BCSD Celebrates National Manufacturing Day - Boone faculty attended Friday morning's Manufacturing Breakfast to celebrate National Manufacturing Day. The Ames Chamber of Commerce hosted the breakfast presented by South Story Bank and Trust. Steve Sukup, President and CEO of Sukup Manufacturing Company, served as the keynote speaker for the event. Mr. Sukup oversees all day-to-day company operations, with locations in seven states and two international. He previously served as CFO for Sukup Manufacturing Co., beginning in 1994. A graduate of Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Steve has also received the Process in Engineering Award from ISU and served as President of the Iowa State University Research Foundation. BCSD offers manufacturing opportunities to its students through various STEM explorations, activities and coursework in grades PK-12. As a STEM BEST HD grant recipient from the Iowa Governor's STEM Council in 2022, Boone Middle School has been able to expand engineering and manufacturing exploration with CNC plasma cutting, plastic injection molding and virtual welding opportunities for its students. Boone High School is offering a new course this year in computer integrated manufacturing as part of its engineering pathway while also integrating industrial technology and agricultural opportunities. Additionally, BCSD continues to expand its EDGE work-based learning partnerships with manufacturing partners in the region for tours, guest speakers, and advanced internships that allow students to put learning into the context of a future career.

Boone CSD has reinstated the use of Seesaw this week. We do not believe any of our parents, students, or teachers were impacted by the global incident that occurred last week. Kids loved our new "Brunch for Lunch" menu item today... Country Egg Scramble, Fresh Baked Whole Grain Cinnamon Roll, Hash Browns and plenty of colorful fruits and vegetables to fill up their trays! Students are equipped to learn their best after a delicious meal like this today!

The Toreador Food Pantry. The pantry is located in the basement of Futures Alternative High School, 727 W. Mamie Eisenhower. Toreador Food Pantry is available to the entire school district including students and their families and all school employees. Toreador Food Pantry hours are the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm when school is in session. Please see the Flyer below for additional details.
