Happy Thanksgiving from the Toreadors family! We hope you get to spend time with the ones you love today. See you next week! 🦃

Reminder: Students will be released 2 hours early today. All Boone CSD schools are closed November 23-24 for Thanksgiving Break. ⏰

Chronic absenteeism increases as students get older. More than 14 percent of middle school students are reported as chronically absent. That number climbs to over 20 percent once they get to high school.
Boone CSD calls on parents, guardians, and family members to encourage regular attendance. If school is in session, students should be in school.

Mentorship makes a huge difference in school attendance. Studies show that chronically absent students who participate in a mentorship program are more likely to get back on track and maintain a solid attendance record.
If your student is struggling, we encourage you to explore mentorship opportunities. Speak with a school counselor to learn more.

Veterans Day is a time to reflect on the incredible commitment of those who have served our country. We are forever grateful.

Yesterday was an incredible day at Boone Middle School as our 8th grade students embarked on a journey of exploration during the 8th Grade Explore Your Future Day! 🚀📚
Choosing from a variety of industries like aviation, sports communication, trades, education, and more, students spent half the day hands-on in the workforce and the other half in enlightening sessions with business professionals at school. 🛫🔧
The sessions covered vital skills—time management, professionalism, handling criticism, completing applications, navigating social media, attention to detail, customer service, and more. A big THANK YOU to the 23 businesses that contributed through engaging presentations and insightful tours!
To conclude the day, each student wrote a reflection in their Portrait of a Graduate portfolio and learned how to write thank-you notes. 📝🎓
We appreciate all the businesses, professionals, and educators who made this day a success! Our students are now more equipped and inspired for the exciting journey that lies ahead!

November is National Scholarship Month! 🎓If you plan on attending college in the fall, now is a great time to get started on your scholarship applications.

Did you know? By ninth grade, students who are chronically absent are much less likely than their peers to graduate high school.
We’re calling on our students, families, and community to make attendance a top priority this school year! If you need support, please contact your child’s school office. We’re here to help!

We’re excited to announce that four talented 7th-grade musicians from Boone Middle School were selected to attend the South Central Iowa Bandmasters Association (SCIBA) Honor Band Festival! 🎉
Congratulations to Jordyn Smith (clarinet), Rylee Eatock (trumpet), Hayden Nerem (trumpet), and Aly Russell (clarinet). This special event took place on November 7, where students participated in rehearsals alongside other outstanding musicians from Central Iowa.
These dedicated students put in extra effort to prepare an entire concert's worth of music outside of their regular band commitments. Their exceptional work ethic and commitment to improvement caught the attention of their director, Rose Kundel, who nominated them for this honor.
The day culminated in a concert for families, showcasing the hard work and musical learning of these four individuals. They not only represented themselves well but also made Boone Middle School proud.
Let's give a big round of applause to these outstanding musicians! 👏
