EDGE Internship/Mentorship (Starting 2021-2022 School Year)
Prerequisites: Pathway in course of study completed through course offerings at Boone High School.

This EDGE internship/mentorship plus course combines essential career ready skills with supervised learning on the job. The in-class portion focuses on future plans and goals with the study of career assessment, career and post-secondary research, job-seeking skills, the work force and networking. The job-site provides students with practical work experience as well as training and networking with community business partners. Students must earn 60 on the job hours throughout the year. For this reason students must have room in their schedule to meet this requirement. Students in EDGE Internship/Mentorship Plus will have the opportunity to earn one Boone credit.

For this reason students must have room in their schedule to meet these requirements. Students in EDGE Internship/Mentorship Plus will have the opportunity to earn two Boone credits and five DMACC Credits.
ADM221Career Development Skills2The course covers aspects of professional career placement including various interview methods, job application materials, electronic career portfolios, digital footprint and professional image, as well as negotiating the job offer. Prepare a cover letter, resume, letter of acceptance, resignation letter, thank you letter, and answers for behavioral interview questions.
ADM936Occupational Experience3Opportunity for supervised work experience related to the major academic interests of students in an approved business setting. Students are guided by coordinated efforts of the employer/supervisor and the instructor. Skills and knowledge are applied by working a minimum of 120 hours. (This course is Pass/Fail.) Prerequisite: Minimum employable skills as determined by instructor and with instructor approval.
Internships:
Senior intern Jillian, has had the opportunity to have two internships and we are so thankful for the Gabrielson Clinic for partnering with us. Through this experience Jillian has had the opportunity to observe many appointments but also to see live births and surgeries. She is loving learning more and more about the healthcare field. Jillian knows she wants to do healthcare and this experience has allowed to her explore more of the OBGYN world and it is truly changing her life. Thank you to all who have helped Jillian. Jillian you are a shining star!
Noah has an internship this semester with @farewayiceast as an e-commerce employee. He has learned so much from this experience and it has helped to guide his way with his career track to business next fall. Noah has learned about the behind the scenes workings of what it means to manage a website, a lifelong skill. Thank you Fareway for partnering with us and helping Noah become even better than he is!
Our interns are in full swing for second semester and senior Colby is just one of them. Colby is partnering with NEW partner with Boone County Roads department. Colby loves showing up every day and working with his hands. He is learning a lot of new skills and has had a lot of experience in the field with all of that snow that came through. Yes, that's right Colby worked on the snow days--what an awesome kid! Thanks Colby and thanks Josh for mentoring him in this new partnership. What a great start to second semester!!
