Just in time for summer reading, every Franklin Elementary School student has received the newest Dog Man book from the incredible author, Dav Pilkey! But that’s not all—the FES library also received a $500 gift card from Pilkey himself!
FES is grateful to Dog Eared Books and Mr. Pilkey for selecting us as one of the lucky schools. Thank you for your generosity and for continuing to inspire a love of reading in our students! 📚

Eric Ver Helst graduated in 2000 and is now the sports information director at DMACC in Boone! He's been working in the athletic department since he graduated from BHS.
He fondly remembers Ann Haugland, his speech teacher. She helped him gain confidence in his public speaking, and as the yearbook sports editor, she pushed him to get the best story possible.
Over the years, Eric has announced at the IGHSAU State Basketball Tournament, where he was behind the mic for seven state championship games. He’s been the head statistician at the IHSAA State Baseball Tournament since 2020.
When he's not working, Eric volunteers his time with the basketball, baseball, and softball teams at BHS. 🏀⚾

Jaslyn Reinsel (Clark) was a varsity football cheerleader for three years and graduated from Boone High School in 2013! 💫
She went on to embark on a career in supply chain management after earning her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. Over the years, she has worked with Land O’Lakes as an Agronomy Service Center manager and is now a distribution specialist.
In 2022, Jaslyn purchased Behn’s Centre of Dance in Boone and renamed it Studio Jas Dance & Tumbling. She also served on the school board at Trinity Lutheran, the board of directors for a nonprofit counseling service in Ames, and was formerly a Clover Kids Club leader for Hardin County.
“There are so many teachers who impacted my life in various ways: Senora Frank, Mrs. Carpenter, and Mrs. Dupuis are three of my favorites,” Jaslyn says. “They guided me through tough times and pushed me to do more than what I thought possible. They were always patient and made a lasting impact on my life.”
Thanks for sharing your memories and achievements, Jaslyn!
