504
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 directs schools receiving federal funding to eliminate discrimination based on disability from all aspects of school operation. The Boone Community School District does not discriminate in its educational programs and activities on the basis of a student’s disability. As a recipient of federal funds, the Boone Community School District provides students meeting Section 504 eligibility equal physical and academic access to services, programs, and activities as those offered to the general population.
At-Risk
The Boone Community School District recognizes some students require additional assistance and makes available to students services and supports that enhance opportunities to be successful in school and to graduate from the regular education program.
Counseling Services
The Boone Community School District counselors and administration have engaged in a process to develop the Guidance Curriculum and Counseling Plan of Services. A periodic review and renewal of the Guidance Curriculum and Counseling Plan of Services was conducted during the 2011-2012 school year. This process was part of an effort to acknowledge and manage changes through continuous improvement in teaching and learning contributing to the revision of comprehensive program to support the personal/social, academic and career learning needs of all students.
ELL
The major goal of the Boone Community School District English Language Learner Program is to develop the English language skills of English language learners so that they can function well both in an English language academic setting and in society at a level comparable to their native English-speaking peers.
Health Services
The Boone Community School District Health Services Department developed a Nursing Plan of Services that leads to a positive climate and environment that is collaboratively and intentionally designed to support the health needs and learning needs of all students. This process was part of an effort to acknowledge and manage changes through continuous improvement in school health services.
Services Provided
Promotion of healthy lifestyles
Health care guidance to students, family, and staff
Identify health concerns by observation and assessment of needs and provide appropriate care
Medication management
Immunization verification according to state requirements
Screenings
Help students develop strategies to manage health issues.
Special Education
The Boone Community School District Special Education Instructional Services Delivery System was developed by the Core Special Education Committee comprised of parents of eligible individuals, special education teachers, general education teachers, administrators, and representatives of Heartland Area Education Association and the School Improvement Advisory Committee appointed by the Board of Education.
The purpose of the Special Education Instructional Services Delivery System is to provide useful information to interested persons and serve as a guide for making educational decisions.

Talented & Gifted (Excel)
EXCEL stands for Experiential Curriculum for the Enrichment of Learning. This is the name for the Talented and Gifted (TAG) Program in Boone Schools. The program is designed to meet the individual needs of gifted and talented students; to challenge and encourage them to increase and enrich their knowledge. The primary goal of EXCEL is to help gifted and talented learners realize their full potential and to experience personal fulfillment.
Title I
Title I services are provided to students in grades K-4 in individual, small group, or whole class learning as supports for general education classroom reading instruction. All elementary school buildings in Boone Community School District offer services using the school-wide Title I model.
